Tivo and HD Technology Fee

Right now I have a HD DVR I rent from Comcast and there is a charge for Hd/dvr Service at 16.95  which says it includes a HD Technology Fee.

I wonder for those who have Tivo if this charge goes away if you are not renting the DVR or do you still pay some kind of HD Technology Fee as well.

It seems if you have to pay 14.99 for Tivo plus a HD Technology Fee then the monthly charge would be more to have Tivo.

I would like to go to the 4 tuner tivo DVR.

you have to pay the hd technology fee no matter what if you have hd, everyone pays that tivo or dvr from comcast.  You also need to rent the cable cards from comcast.  In some markets the first one is free.  A cable card to comcast is just like a box as it provides the same functionality.

I was told by support the cablecard is free but I still will have the HD fee. Guess I should have justed asked them first.

Thanks for the reply.
