DVR not working

DVR not working

My dvr is not working. When you pause a show the screen goes black and won't come back on. Non of my dvr recordings will play back. Just get a black screen. Do I need to replace my unit? If I bring it to a Comcast store can they sync my recordings with a replacement unit?
