I can't get my Comcast remote to work with my Vizio 47" TV purchased in 2010.  I'm going through the following steps:

1. Press TV

2. Press Setup

3. Wait until double blink

4. Enter code; so far I've tried: 0178, 1758, 10178, 627, 502, 10864, 10885, 11756, and 11758

Please help me get the power and volume working.

If you have a remote with a Red 'OK/Select' button try these steps:

Press TV

Press and Hold Setup until TV light blinks twice

Enter '991'

Press '1'

Press Power

Press Channel Up until TV turns off

Then press Setup to lock it in

Gray 'OK/Select button:

Press TV

Press and Hold Setup until TV light blinks twice

Enter '991'

Alternate pressing TV and Power unitl TV turns off

Press Setup to lock it in

Good Luck

If the code search doesn't work, we'll need more information. What is the model# of your Vizio TV, and which remote do you have? Remotes are shown here: http://customer.comcast.com/Pages/HelpNFC.aspx?print=false&id=remotes. You might also try the remote manufacturer's web site: http://www.urcsupport.com/index.php?mso_id=65.

I have not yet tried this--will in a minute--but I don't understand this:

"Enter '991'

Press '1'

Press Power"

I cannot press 991 separately from the 1, so it really results in

9911

right?

OUCH! Just tried this and lost everything!

Please see the code search instructions for your remote. Instruction sheets can be found at http://customer.comcast.com/Pages/HelpNFC.aspx?print=false&id=remotes#download.

For the Silver/Red remote, the TV code search instructions are:

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press TV on your remote. Then hold Setup until the TV button flashes twice.
  3. Enter 9-9-1 and the TV button will flash twice.
  4. Press 1 and the TV button will flash twice.
  5. Press the Power button, then press CH+ multiple times until the TV turns off.
  6. Once the TV turns off, press Setup to lock in the code.

... OUCH! Just tried this and lost everything!

Hmmm -- that sounds bad -- what happened?

RE; OUCH

After that, the remote would not work at all. Nothing.

So, re did the buttons using comcast insructions

10128

that put it back to somewhat normal.

my problem is CC tech help on the phone says it's a 5 digit number

the cc booket says it's a five digit number and they list about 10 to try

the problem is this: what ever is the last digit, the channel changes to that one

in the example above, after prorgammng, the TV went to channel 8, but at least some of the buttons work.

between the cc remote and the vizio remote, I can get everything to work

some say you cannot program the cc remote until the vizio tv has been properly setup

I've never learned how to do this

goggle searches have indicated others have problems with the five digit code like me. Some say to drop the last digit, others say drop the first one. I have no social life, so will try them all tonight. After google searches, I now have about 30 codes that others claim will work.

BIG question: which is the newest [and hopefully best] cc remote? red "on/select" button or gray.

With so many TV;s I have both

Don't know which is newer or better, but Silver/Red uses 5-digit codes, and Silver/Gray uses 4-digit codes.

Ah, that explains why my gray one goes to the channel on the fifth digit.

Now I'll try dropping the first or last digit with the gray one

thanks

scheesh, so simple if you know the secret. The silver/red button uses a five digit code, and the silver/gray button uses four digits.

Once knowing that, I got mine to work in two minutes.

And cc tech help and the cc site DO NOT SEEM TO kNOW THIS!

Every cc site and booklet shows five digits, and if you call cc, they give you five digits.

But if you have a silver/gray remote, it does not work.

Using the 11993 code for the Xfinity remote (red button OK/middle) worked.  Did this for the 40" Vizio LED TV.  Thanks!

I have the Vizio VX32L and none of the above works.  At best I can control the volume.  No channel control, no menu control, though I can bring up the menu, just can't use it.

I just successfully programmed my Vizio.  The code I had to use was 0178.  It was a wild guess since Vizio isn't even on the listing of codes anymore.  I tried the code listed for VidTech.  It worked immediately.  Hope this helps the next people who are trying with Vizio TVs.
