Comcast DVR is squeaking!!!

Comcast DVR is squeaking!!!

Comcast DVR is squeaking and driving me crazy, how do I make this stop with out unplugging it? Please help!!!

Either the fan or hard drive is failing.

 

Please take the DVR and remote to the local Comcast office for a swap.  You can also call Comcast support and they can send out a tech to replace it.

 

Watch all your recordings first, and they will be gone for good when you swap the DVR out.

mine has squeeked for 5 years just turn it off.

Have you had the DVR for awhile and did it just start happening? What kind of squeaking? The hard drive may make a chirping or clicking sound as it seeks back and forth.

I just got Comcast a few months back so I have only had the dvr for a few months...pain in the rear. Very irritated and not happy!

My DVR makes these random chirping sounds also. Sometimes it's rare, or it can be several times per minute. It is very annoying, although the DVR seems to be in perfect working order. If anyone knows a reason for it or a fix, I'd be interested in hearing it!

There's only two moving parts in the DVR, the cooling fan and the hard drive.  There are some brands of hard drives that chirp when they are starting to fail.

 

Take the DVR and remote to the local Comcast office for a swap, for another DVR.

Thanks for the info, I will definitely do that if I can ever watch all of my recorded shows! It's so strange though, I've had my DVR for about 2 years and it's been chirping for as long as I can remember. It's pretty sporadic though.
