Closed Captions in Spanish

Closed Captions in Spanish

My television has CC1, CC2, CC3, and CC4 but CC1 is the only Closed Caption that works. CC2 is supposed to be for Spanish but doesn’t display any Spanish when I selected. I’ve called Comcast support and they say all options for Closed Captioning is through the television and there’s nothing they can do. Is this true? I haven’t gone through every channel and the one Spanish channel has audio but no video. This is frustrating for my wife and her daughter who speak little English. The Spanish package isn’t available in my area, so if I can’t get Spanish subtitles my only option is switch to Satellite television. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Re: Closed Captions in Spanish

It's true that the CC data are supplied by the broadcaster.  Have you checked to see if the SAP (second audio program) will supply Spanish audio for any channels?  What is your location?

Re: Closed Captions in Spanish

No I haven't tried SAP. Is this a television setting or for my cable box? I live in Eastern Tennessee.

Re: Closed Captions in Spanish

It could be either one, depending on your equipment.  If you have a cable box tell me what make/model it is and I'll try to help you figure it out.

Re: Closed Captions in Spanish

Try this:

With the remote, select "Menu" button, "Menu" button, then click on "Setup", "Audio Setup", and change the "Default Audio Track" to "Español".  (Unfortunately, I haven't found a channel for which this actually changes the audio to Spanish.)

If you page down to the next page under "Setup" then click on "Text Language Setup" you can change the guide text to Spanish, which may be helpful.

I'm sorry I haven't been able to help any more than this.

Re: Closed Captions in Spanish

Yes I tried this today and also switched the television audio to SAP... None of this has worked. I still have English on CC1 and nothing on CC2 - CC4. Guess I'll have to switch to satellite service Smiley Sad . They offer four Spanish packages that have Spanish and English, but most important... It's available in my area.

Thanks for trying to help, it was appreciated. Smiley Happy
