[ Edited ]

I still have issues with no longer being able to have the 'contribution' box at the bottom to post  'general' reply not directed at a particular person. I hate not being able to see the most recent posts and having to go backwards to see anything after posting a reply . Why can't it just go back to the page where I put the most recent post like it does if I have to edit my post?

[ Edited ]

I believe folks are getting the Xfinity.com home page confused with forums.xfinity.com page. When reading the note about reporting features " To our valued community members,

We’re excited to announce the re-launch of the Comcast Help & Support Forums, with the help of Responsive Web Design."

A note should be added saying any post about Xfinity Home page should be posted in its own Thread or Maybe start and New mega thread entitled Xfinity Home page.It would alleviate the need to repeatedly move posts. There is a Pinned Post for the new Xfinity home page http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Xfinity-com-Website/New-My-Xfinity-com-Home-Page/td-p/2653437 which suggests making comments there but its Locked.

Ty for suggested changes being made.  2/04/2016 11:39 am

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

BUG REPORT**

Just finished reading the latest additions to the HOME PAGE thread below.. {It's getting to be quite lengthy}

Using the All Forums Topics return, I was sent to:

Please note the date of the first post...   I scrolled to the bottom of the page and this is the result:

Page 4 ???  also note I have my pages set to 50 items.

BUG # 2 **

The manner of getting to the last post of any thread has not been carried forward to this version. The method presented is convoluted.

BUG # 3 **

The personal indicator has been lost.  That indicator was a mark on a lower corner of the thread marker telling us which threads we've responded to, quite an asset lost.

Bugs or by design, the navigation within these forums has become quite frustrating, on my pc.  It is even worse when I checked it out with my tablet.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

*sigh*  And in yet another downgrade to utilization of this new 40% centric forum, once you finally manage to get to the list of your own posts, it no longer shows your post so you can find what you're looking for.  Now, which is in no way helpful, you see the very first post of the thread, making the whole thing useless.

That's true; when moving or deleting a post, leaving a message behind is preferred, but often not done when the reviewer wants the appearance of it never having been there. I've seen it many times, and have no respect for the ones that do so.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

[ Edited ]

I think the thread is moving a bit off topic (minus all of the great things Blue Jay keeps finding, please keep sending them, they're being worked on!). I just want to address the moving of messages. As Admins, we do have the ability to move w/o leaving the placeholder text. Last week we created a master thread for the many different places people were sharing feedback for the change to the Xfinity homepage. Any messages that were moved out of this thread (or elsewhere in the xfinity.com website section) were related to the Xfinity homepage feedback. Just trying to keep this thread clean, and on target for it's original purpose.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

BUGS!! BUGS!! BUGS!!! BUGS!!!

I'm not the only one finding bugs.

Alan, I know you don't want to address the listing of personal posts, but there is a major BUG within what you are recommending for usage.

When I have to spend more than 3 clicks to find a post I've made, something is wrong.

And also not having any indication whatsoever that I've remarked in any thread listed on a forum.

When I look down a listing of threads in a forum, and all I see is the useless marbleized versions of avatars, that is wrong.

We are a society of left to right reading...   Locked and pinned thread markers are reversed on the line.

Looking at the thread listings, the indication for the newest post is missing.

The ability to get to the last post of a thread is missing.

I have asked before and will ask again, what is the purpose and rationale behind the VERTICAL SLIDER in this reply window.

It appears to be a carryover from a revision of the email viewing window. { a big negative there}

Please give us an update of issues being worked on, and the progress being made.

Thanks, ciao, bj

I used to be able to click an icon at the start of a long thread and get taken directly to the first reply I had not yet read in that thread.

If that feature still exists in some form, it is well hidden.

Hello BlueJay,

Thanks again for posting to us about the emoticon 'stacking' issue.

We are currently on the issue to correct it.

In regards to the 'Last Post' button.

Currently this is how the post/thread navigation is setup:

nav.png

Where the navigation assistance is done via the [Previous (thread page(s)) Next] button.

To incorporate the "Last Post" button, we will need to make adjustment to the layout to accomodate it.

I will bring this to our forum dev-team to discuss it, but I would like to ask 'where' would you like to see it placed.

We are listening to the community member's requests and suggestion as we further refine the responsive design.

So please contiune to post your thoughts and insight.

Thank you

JK

Not sure if it was mentioned, but I will give one good improvement: It is notceably faster than the old software. Even during the President's Day outage, when the number of online users went up to around 500, it was still working well, if a bit slower. With the old software, it wasn't unusual waiting 20-30 seconds for it to respond to a new page or make a post.

Also, the editor is now Firefox compatible.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

Most of the graphics are out of place and/or overlapping. I used to enjoy participating in the Forum(s); however, this re-design is a nightmare. It has countless bugs and mistakes, flaws--GALORE. It is impossible to follow a thread. There are no choices to choose a view, such as, in ascending or descending date order (latest post first or last). There are no tools for my fonts--such as bold, underline, italics, colors, etc.) I can't even follow my own posts. I have had a difficult time reading all the other posts regarding this Nightmare Forum Re-design--I contributed to this post weeks ago, yet I cannot find my own post(s). Further, has anyone noticed HOW MANY, MANY DATESOF POSTS ARE COMPLETELY MISSING? I am not a beginner and I find this VERY DIFFICULT. Those who are new and or newer(including Customers who want to begin participating in Forums (and we all need them to participate in them), are going to give up--because Comcast has made an enormous mess of this. [Note only--different Forum--Comcast has simultaneously made a big mess of the Comcast Customers Home Page, too. So stupidly, Comcast made enormous unusable messes out of most things that Comcast Customers needed, wanted, found useful. Comcast always does these very same things--again and again and again.]

*NOTE, THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR THE XFINITY HOMEPAGE REDESIGN FEEDBACK* (You can share homepage feedback here)

In 2015 the Comcast Help & Support Forum went through it's first extensive redesign in several years. When the new site launched a thread was started to track user feedback, ask questions, and share any issues for things not working as expected.

In January we launched the newest version of Comcast Help & Support Forums, with the help of Responsive Web Design. As more customers have begun accessing our site from mobile and tablet devices. We wanted to improve the user experience for our customers. Under this new format the community will be easier to read and navigate from a wide range of devices and screen sizes.

Please use this thread to share any feedback you have for the new Help & Support Forums.

Thank you,

Alan

I just wanted to remind everyone that this tread is meant as a place for Comcast to be made aware of and address any "bug/flaws" with the new Responsive Web Design of the Forum. We can appreciate the need to "vent" your frustrations about the overall design layout of the new forum, however, without constructive feedback we are unable to make any necessary changes. Please remember to respect our request to keep this thread on topic and please keep providing any "bugs" you may run into.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

I wanted to thank everyone for their feedback and take some time to address some of the concerns being brought up in this thread.

edron wrote:
"There are no choices to choose a view, such as, in ascending or descending date order (latest post first or last)."

This is definitely a valid concern. By default the view is set up in ascending order, which just means that the most recent post end up at the end of the thread. I have found it easiest to just go to the last page of the thread to start my remark there. I believe the reasoning behind this is that you can read the thread in its entirely from the beginning on.

edron wrote:
"There are no tools for my fonts--such as bold, underline, italics, colors, etc.)"

I am not seeing this issue. As for font styles, font colors, bold, underline, italics, and strike through features are all prominently displayed at the top of message body when making a post. See screenshot below:

Capture2.PNG

If you are not seeing these feature please don't hesitate to let myself, ComcastJK, or ComcastAlan know directly so we can get this resolved for you.

edron wrote:
"I can't even follow my own posts"

I have found 2 way to easily get to my own posts.

1. If you have Notifications enabled you can click the "Bell" (see screenshot below) to get you to the threads you have recently been posting to.

Capture3a.PNG

2. If you want to get directly to your latest posts you can again, go to the upper right corner and click the down arrow next to your Avatar (see screenshot below). Once there click on "Profile".

Capture3b.PNG

There you will easily be able to scroll to the section of your profile titled "Latest Posts" (see screenshot below) and click the down arrow next to that. Once you get there you can click on any of your "Latest Posts" and it will immediately take you to your post. *Note: Your post will be at the top of the page.*

edron wrote:
"Further, has anyone noticed HOW MANY, MANY DATESOF POSTS ARE COMPLETELY MISSING? I am not a beginner and I find this VERY DIFFICULT."

Again, I have not experienced this issue on either my PC or mobile device. I welcome you to include screenshots on this thread so that we can get that issue resolved for you as well. This new layout was designed to make navigating/using the community easier for all users no matter what type of device they are accessing it with. Again, thank you for your time and we continue to encourage you to provide us with any additional feedback you may have.

BlueJay wrote:
"p.s. I'm still waiting for enlightenment on the Vertical Slide Bar in this reply window."

I believe what you are discussing is the Vertical Slide Bar when making a reply (see screenshot below), please correct me if I am wrong. By default when starting a reply you should not see this, only if the reply starts to exceed the available space, will it start showing up. The reason behind this feature is that we are limited with the "real estate" with this new Responsive Forum Design. Without this feature the Responsive Design would fail to work and display correctly across all device types.

Capture5.PNG

If you are still experiencing this issue without typing any reply, again you can let us know and attach screenshots, and we will be happy to get this resolved for you.

I hope this addresses your concerns about the new Forum Design. Again, we welcome and encourage you all to continue to submit feedback on how to resolve any ongoing issues with the new design. Thanks for your time and consideration in this matter and your continued assistance with this new layout.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

Comcast Employees/Moderators,

Don't you notice how very few and very recently few replies there are to this Forum Design Feedback Post there are?  You, Comcast, have requested Forum Participants' Feedback--The re-design of the Forum is such a disorganized mess, so poorly designed, so full of bugs, and almost impossible to use are among the very reasons that you are getting such few replies.

Additionally, the simultaneous redesign of the Comcast Customers' Homepages is a simultaneous nightmare of epic proportions.

Comcast Employees, Moderators, etc.--We know YOU would never have made these very, very poor decisions. Beyond being very poor decisions and very poorly, shabbily designed, poorly implemented--these have been thoughtless, cruel, putting Comcast Customers under severe duress, stress, horrible hardships of every imaginable type.

Comcast Customers seem to be expected to become experts in countless workarounds including becoming gurus in 3, 4, 5, and more different browsers--each browser (MAYBE) only works for each separate, tiny little task within the Homepages and/or desperately trying to use the Forums to get any shred of help, whatsoever.

Customers are told all the Comcast/Xfinity problems are THEIR FAULTS--their browser/browsers, their computers, their everything--ALL THE Comcast Customers' Faults.

Customers have lost time, income, sleep, health, well-being, peace, rest--every shred of enjoyment.  The brutality and hardships on the disabled (for instance) are not only horrendous, shocking-- but further, shameful and unconscionable on the part of Comcast.  The hardships on Customers who are not technical gurus--and should by no means have to be--are profound and appalling.

I am so disgusted with Comcast, at this point, I do not want to put any further factual detail into this post, at this time.

For only THIS CURRENT FEW MINUTES, I had to use Google Chrome to write this post--since suddenly, other browsers would not provide the correct displays, tools, etc.  In another 2 minutes, I would not be, at all surprised, if suddenly Chrome did not work for this same task--and I would have to scrounge around desperately trying to figure out which--IF ANY-- browser MIGHT  work.

If I hover my mouse over Share I see a "dropdown" box.  If I click on Share I get a window that opens with all of the Share options.  [Seamonkey]

Additionally, the simultaneous redesign of the Comcast Customers' Homepages is a simultaneous nightmare of epic proportions.

The forums were rolled out in Spring 2015.  The redesign of the Xfinity Homepage was launched nationwide recently.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

Comcast Jesse:  Thank you for responding to me (edron).

I am replying using Google Chrome.   Your Screenshots --including the lettering, fonts, underscores, italics, tools, etc. RECENTLY began NOT APPEARING in Internet Explorer and, also, NOT in Internet Explorer Compatibility mode.  Your other Screenshots of the Avatar, bell with 0 and/or some number of notices, were all out of alignment and/or overlapping.  Also, the blank rectangle for search (for a subject) had the magnifying glass search icon nowhere inside of near that search rectangle and the magnifying glass was not lined up with anything.

I used to be able to use I.E. for Forums but not for a number of recent days, due to the bugs above--out of alignments, missing objects, etc.

This, in addition to my other previous comments about the glitches, bugs, malfunctions, etc.  Further, I highly agree with all of the other bugs, glitches, difficulties, problems of the other Forum Customers' reportings and comments.  This includes some of the convenient navigational tools and marks that have been left out--but used to be very convenient and helpful---Actually NECESSARY, in my opinion, for ability to follow threads and participations.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

edron, have you tried deleting your browser history to see if that will clear up your recent problems with IE?  If you have IE 11 you can find that option under Safety.  It should be the first choice.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

Comcast Jesse: from(edron)--This is a P.S. to my own reply to your reply.  Since this '2016 Forum Redesign Post Feedback Here' allows nothing but replies (in other words, no "new posts" / no questions, this makes the threads even more confusing and difficult to follow and/or participate--given all the bugs, etc.

The other contibuting factors to all of these difficulties is the fact of the separate Feedback for Replies ONLY to the topic of the 'Redesigned Comcast Customers' Home Page.'   The fact that Comcast Customers have been forced to deal with both of these simultaneously has made matters of actual necessity exceedingly difficult for millions of Comcast Customers.  There are even MORE Problems, in my opinion, with the Customers Home Page.  The complication lies in the fact of Comcast Customers accessing the Forums to get direly needed of help for the changed (redesigned--very problematic) Home Page.  See what I mean?  Customers cannot get any help, whatsoever, by calling Customer Service and trying to explain all kinds of malfunctions to someone over the phone that require that Customer Service person to be able to visualize all the malfunctions experienced by the Customer and provide solutions to any such Customer. Note: on the Customer Home Page, the links even to get to the Custom Forum (for desperately needed help, questions,  replies),  are not, at all, easy to find--and are by no means easy nor direct.

This was, indeed, very poor planning, on timing, to have these two huge necessary things (Forum and Home Page) redesigned in any timeline of being simultaneous.  The extreme hardships on Comcast Customers has been dramatic.  Further, this has been going on for many, many months with no end in sight.  I personally, have helped as many disabled Comcast Customers I can (friends, acquaintances, neighbors, family members, etc.  I have also done the same for those who are less geeky/less tech savvy than I am.  Comcast, a $$$$Multi-BILLION$$$$ company should have known better than to do these things, simultaneously.  This is mere common sense.  And simpler, yet--just a modicum of thoughtfulness, consideration, fairness, and kindness as a "Corporate Personality."

Thank you, Comcast Jesse (and the other Comcast Employees/Moderators who care about Customers)

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

What did you do in the past 5-7 days that corrupted any possible way to use the Forums with I.E., Microsoft, Windows, any and every Microsoft OS, Microsoft Browser. Edge, etc.?

I have tried everything--but you must have changed something further in the re-design--bug fixes, etc.--in the

recent 5-7 days.  To participate in the Forums, now--the only browser that will work is Google Chrome.  I had participated earlier--including on this thread and I was using I.E.  Now that is IMPOSSIBLE.

Can you provide an answer to me, please?

There you will easily be able to scroll to the section of your profile titled "Latest Posts" (see screenshot below) and click the down arrow next to that. Once you get there you can click on any of your "Latest Posts" and it will immediately take you to your post. *Note: Your post will be at the top of the page.*

Jessie, while that is true the way it is presented is flawed. That works ONLY when the post is one of the last 5 made.

Used to be there was a way to find ONLY posts by him/her self or if looking for someone else's posts ONLY posts by that person.

Previously I could go to my profile, choose to view all my posts and it would list the last post made in the topic I replied to or started. This gave me the ability to see if there had been any replies after mine.

That has changed. Instead of seeing ONLY my posts, it now shows a link to the FIRST post in a topic I replied in. Example:

I did reply in that topic. My reply is #64.

If I wanted to go to my reply for whatever reason, I clicked the topic link and what opens is the FIRST post in the topic.

In order to get to my reply I have to click the page numbers for that topic, scroll down, see if it is on that page and if not go to the next page and repeat the process until I find what I am looking for.

There is NO separate entry for ONLY my post, which is how it used to be.

This also applies if I recall a reply by someone else I want to refer to and I have to search for that person's reply.

In topics with many pages it is cumbersome and time-wasting to find the one I want.

In the screenshot I posted, it says that gamma2479 made the latest reply. If I want to see what that reply says, I have to go to the last page of the topic and scroll down to get to the post.

Also related is the fact that one cannot go directly to the LAST post in a topic, as has been mentioned by others. I do NOT want to have to scroll and look at replies I have already seen.

Suppose I recall that BlueJay posted something I want to refer to. I go to her profile and click View Posts.

IF the post is one of the last 5 she made, I can click on the link to the post and go directly to that post, which is the ONLY way to go directly to a post by ANYONE.

If it is NOT one of the last 5, click View All to see all of her posts.

If I am lucky and know what topic the post was in, all I can do is click the topic title of where she replied.  If she has only one post in a topic, easy to find. If more than one in a topic I have to scroll through the entire topic to find the post I need.

Again, it is a time-waster to have to scroll through every post on every page to find the one I want.

Edit to add: A VISIBLE LINK TO THE FORUM RULES SHOULD BE ON EVERY FORUM PAGE. It used to be very prominent on ALL forum pages.

Now the only link to the rules is seen WHEN NOT SIGNED IN.

On the upper left side of the main forum page is

Find solutions, share knowledge, and get answers from customers and experts

New to the Community? Start here.

Well, the link does take one to a Getting Started page.

Unfortunately, the link to the rules is buried on the page. Scroll all the way down to get to it where it is listed under Recommendations.

Forums Policy and Guidelines

I have been to a lot of forums and actively participate in one of the other ones.

ALL of them have VISIBLE links to the rules for that forum.

Comcast is the only one who makes the rules hard to find.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

I am typing this without any Forum Tools(I have no Forum formatting screen--only an outline of a rectangular box). The screenshot Queen-Evie provided on March 6, 2016 (in point # 2.) is another huge problem for me. My Avatar shows up in 3 vertical columns. I have NO symbol for notifications. The search box has the icon of the magnifying glass outs ide of the searchbox rectangle . The magnifying glass is on the next line, outside of the searchbox. There are so many elements that are completely missing on my Forum Screens. I can copy a screen shot--BUT it will not paste into the body of my comment box, where I am currently typing. I cannot even sign-in--so how did I get in NOW? That would take me too long to type. Further, at time when I can, at least do this much--when it comes to hitting the "Post" button--some of the time the Post fails. If Comcast Tech support could call me on my phone and arrange a remote logon to my computer, I could show them what is wrong in I.E. and also some things wrong, also in Chrome. I am not having any problems, whatsoever, with any other websites--only Comcast/Xfinity. I participate in other Forums--outside of Comcast Forums and I do not have any problems, whatsoever, with any of these. My ONLY PROBLEMS ARE WITH COMCAST/EXFINITY websites.

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

Thank You, Queen Evie.

Flawed is also my opinion of the current method of locating previous posts. I would also add cumbersome and unrealistic.

I had previously pointed that out in message # 35 above:

http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Xfinity-com-Website/2016-Responsive-Forum-Design-Post-Feedback-Here/m-p...

In message # 40 above, Alan remarked on this particular issue I had:

http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Xfinity-com-Website/2016-Responsive-Forum-Design-Post-Feedback-Here/m-p...

If I also remember correctly, Jessie, mentioned that by clicking on the BELL you can view your past posts.  The only thing I see is a record of Kudos given to me.  I do have notifications turned on.

If I turn on Subscriptions, I will get EMAILS...    Don't want EMAILS!!!

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

Does anyone know how to create a "New Post" to this topic???? The only option seems to be to "reply" to someone's/ anyone's (else's) post--that is what I am doing now.

Also, I have found everyone else's posts very accurate for all the flaws in this "Forum Re-design."  In my opinion, this "re-design" was rolled out and forced onto all Forum Users (in every category/topic) way, way before it was even close to being, at all acceptable.

Due to all the many flaws that still need to be fixed--Does anyone have an estimate of how much longer and/or an accurate date/timeline of when most, if not all, of this will be fixed????

Re: 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here

One very important thing is also missing from this so-called "improved" version of the forum: Auto save.

I started a post to reply to edron and accidentally closed the page.

Used to be when that happened I could try again and could load saved content.

Now to the reply I was trying to make: At the top of every forum topic page there was a big yellow REPLY button. That has disappeared. As you stated, the only way to reply is to click REPLY in a post.

Now on to other things wrong.

When I view my uploaded images 80% are so distorted  I have no clue what they are. I have to click the individual image to open in a new page in order to see what it is.

In addition, if I want to add an uploaded image to a post,

I click Photo, choose Saved Photos, and scroll through my photos to find it.

I find one which I hope is the right one. The only way to know is to actually insert it into the post. If it is not, delete the image from the post and start over.

So now to chose it and see if it is the right image: (and it is)

When inserting a saved image this gives no clue what the total image is after it is chosen

No, the bell will not allow you to view your past posts. What Jessie said was "If you have Notifications enabled you can click the "Bell" (see screenshot below) to get you to the threads you have recently been posting to."

However, those notifications are only for topics you subscribe to. I reply in a lot of topics and do not subscribe to them. I have never gotten a bell notification of a reply in them after my reply.

I am subscribed to one topic and the bell lets me know when there is a new reply in the topic.

Also, as far as I can find there is no way to disable the bell notifications.

BlueJay, you can disable email notifications of replies to topics you are subscribed to. I long ago disabled email notifications so I do not get them when a reply is made in the only topic I am subscribed to.

Click the drop-down arrow next to your name.

Choose My Settings.

When Settings opens, click Subscriptions & Notifications then click Notification Settings.

Under Email Notifications, set everything to NEVER.

Click SAVE.

edit to add: I apologize for contributing to your email notification overload by making 3 replies in a row if you are subscribed to this topic.
