How do you revert the 'new' unannounced change that the idented previous posts quoted get lighter and lighter as there are more added.

This is an ADA issue and should be turned off as indentions already show relative age/order of posts. I did check the settings page after logging in and find no method/menu to not have that 'new' feature.

There isn't one, Rusty.  And this isn't just peculiar to Lithium/Comcast - its rampant across the internet.  Light grey text on a white background.  It's pathetic.

reference "Search" input box changed.

the Search input box on Chrome has no selection box to right (community/category/board/user). Apparently something changed on the HTML as it works in firefox and IE.

anyone else have an up to date chrome to test?

mine:

Version 53.0.2785.101 m

Google Chrome is up to date.

Rusty, this is the address I get, when I click   Xfiniity Help and Support Forums   at the top of this page.

http://forums.xfinity.com/

That page opens to Comcast Help and Support Forums, with the listing of the Help & Support Categories

Comcast Help & Support category list.PNG

When I click the search icon, I get the page I previously posted.

How are you getting to your Welcome to Comcast Help & Support Forums page?

Hope I'm not confusing you.

Hmmm..  I turned off email notifications a while ago..  years..  Smiley Wink   Just turned them back on to see what's what.   Things are not what they used to be.  With all the changes within these forums, it'll be a coin toss what I'll get for email notifications.  If any.

I do believe that something strange is going on with these notifications.   I was getting notified when posts were made {the bell symbol above}   ....   Now I'm not getting any, especially the last few that you made, Rusty.

I thought that I could activate the email notifications. Didn't work..  Just as well, I was not pleased with it before.

I understand you want feedback on the new forum, but I keep getting the survey or feedback pop up everytime I come to read a few posts. Even though I have pop up's blocked in Firefox. Hopefully this is just a temp thing?

I'm getting those nasties also...  Quite intrusive.  Smiley Sad    Why bother with feedback, it's generally overlooked.

edit--  I just got the pop up survey.  IE browser.   going back to chrome.

Notifications seem to be messed up for this thread and/or certain users. I seem to have gotten one for each of your posts here BJ, but not for Paranoid's or Rustyben's posts. No idea why . . .

Bruce, since before January of 2016, and the beginning of this "rendition" , the forums have been seriously FUBARd.

The definition of FUBAR is "Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition" .

There seems to be no rhyme or reason for changes, and/or any explanations or documentation.

Just,   "here it is, accept it, we know best, we welcome feedback,"  but don't expect any actions regarding any feedback.  Smiley Wink

I've more or less given up.

I'm not positive on this but the notification issue may be because another thread [ATTENTION...] was merged with this one.  You can always look at the Subject line.

The Subject line for every message posted in the past few days is "Re: ATTENTION - FORUM REDESIGN". Yet, although I get notifications for your posts and BJ's, there are none for Paranoid's or Rustyben's posts.

My latest Notification Feed page entry says "Again and BlueJay replied to topic 2016 Responsive Forum Design: Post Feedback Here". That's true, but why isn't Paranoid listed? His post (1:44PM) falls after BJ's (11:46AM) and before yours (2:26PM).

Did some chrome testing re: search box found this.......

If I reduce 'font' size (control -<minus>) in windows 10 the search type 'turns on' again. The same time the details of poster's stats returns too. interesitg that that turns it off.

Another newly propogated problem.

The new "footnote" announcement (for lack of a better description) for the Comcast employees is causing a request from Lithium for a username and password.  You can just cancel it and keep going.

See here:

Really, does this forum have to be an alpha test?

Thanks, WTP.  I haven't seen the issue today, so apparently whatever was put in place was removed [maybe the OE sigs?].  Don't know what caused it, but I hope that whatever it was doesn't return.

I have noticed over the past week or two that these forums have generally been very slow or sluggish. It used to be very fast, even on that one day when most TV channels went dead and the online count was will into the hundreds. Now, even when it shows only 20-30 people, it can take 10-20+ seconds to view a post or do most anything. Sometimes it will act fast, but more often, it's very slow. It used to be like this until the last major update about a year go, when it got very fast.

It's not my connection, as I'm having no issues otherwise.

+1.

In that same time period, the site has become forgetful, for me at least.

I read the forums by scanning "index" pages like http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Your-Home-Network/bd-p/YHN looking for bold topic titles. The bold attribute indicates the topic is new, or a new reply has been added to it since I last read it. The site used to do a good job of keeping track of this. But now, after I click on those bold titles and read the threads, about 20 minutes later if I refresh the "index" page all the titles are back to bold again, as if I never read them.

This make the forums nearly useless for me. How am I to distinguish what I've read from what's new or updated if the forum software no longer keeps track???

ETA: Tested on Win 10 (FF, IE, Edge, Chrome) and WinXP (FF, Chrome)

The problem I wrote about above with previously read topic titles reverting to bold (unread) seems to be gone. Hoping that BJ's post counts are fixed as well (http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/My-Account-Sign-In-Xfinity/Abnormal-Post-Count-Function/m-p/2860321#M25...).

And after being banned from these forums for a month, returning, I find  no correction to the unread message count being corrected.  This is a problem that goes back to Jan 17 of this year.

Also today, checking for any interesting posts, find there has been a MASSIVE change to the information being shown on the pages of these forums.  Too many to mention, or take my time to try to document or show.

What is going on?    Is  there any information as to what is the rationale behind these changes?

ciao, bj

Starting a day or two ago (roughly April 17 or 18), the forum no longer jumps to the last read message when opening up a previously-read thread. I have also seen some photos cut off on some threads.

We were pushed onto a newer version of the Forum. We know that this change has caused a few issues. We have worked very hard to document and resolve most of the issues. We anticipate any lingering issues to be resolved very soon.

As for the read/unread issue, this is something that is effecting our forum and many other Lithium forums. At this time there is no resolution or work around. Due to the fact that this is such a large issue we are just going to have to wait for this to be fixed by Lithium.

We appreciate your patience while work to resolve these issues. If you need anything else or have any further concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know.

I can add it does go the correct page on a multi-page thread, but it just sits at the top instead of jumping down like before. But, I assume you have that figured out.

Isn't there a way to roll back to the previous version? Also, is there a way we can see the Lithium version number somewhere?

Recently, including very recently, on the main Forum Home Page--sometimes the "greeting" (or heading, or name for the Forum Home Page) is "Comcast Help and Support Forums" while at other times it is displayed as "Welcome to Comcast Help and Support Forums."  To make sure I am being clear--"Welcome to" is what is added and/or omitted.

This is happening on more than one browser that I use.  Both browsers are up-to-date--and I make sure they are, at all times.

Also, the "notifications" and notifications count are malfunctioning so much, that this has become very, very confusing to me.  More about the notification icon, FYI:  when I select it, for a split second the icon disappears and is replaced by "one unread message", then, in that split second, returns to the notification icon.  The notification count seems always to be one (1), and I keep accessing whatever that notification is supposed to be: however, there is nothing new there, that I have not already read.  Again, on more than one browser.

There is more, but , but I decided to just let you know about these, for now.  Hope this is helpful.

Any update from Lithium on when some of these bugs will be fixed?

Also, on these forums, I'm occasionally seeing a 'Transferring data from comcast-www.baynote.net' in my FF connections that sticks for quite awhile after the page seems to finish. According to Wikipedia: Baynote is a San Jose, California-based software company offering web search recommendation software as a service products.

Looks like there has been an update, as it is now opening to the first new post in a thread. On a new thread, it opens with the first post near the top of the screen.

Still have that 'Transferring data from comcast-www.baynote.net' thing on the bottom of my browser, though.

andyross:  I do not use FF, at this time--but it has always amazed me about the various things or "extra information" one can glean from various, different browsers.  Can you elaborate and share more about what this extra find of yours means?--this 'baynote' website?  I am really curious and interested.

At a later time, I will be posting about various Forum malfunctions that I have been experiencing for quite some time, but have never seen any posts or reports about.

QueenEvie, Often I find your posts and/or replies to be very useful and very helpful.  This is my steady impression over many years of time.

I include in your helpfulness, many of the pictures and/or screenshots you include within your posts (and/or replies).  The reason I am replying to this particular post of yours is because you tried to include two (2) separate pictures (and/or screenshots); however, these only show up as picture "placeholders"----not at all what you intended.   Since you have a great deal of experience, if anyone would know how to insert pictures (screenshots) properly, it would be you.  I have many times seen several actual screenshots in your posts, yet, in that same post their may be one or more pictures you tried to insert that ended up being only "placeholders."  Do you know why your intended pictures ended up as only placeholders--just for instance in this post of you from 03/06/2016 at 6:37PM?  (I chose this post of yours, randomly, even though it is more than a year old).  Queen-Evie, this same thing also happens to quite a number of Service Experts, as well as, many Regular Contributers.  This has continued--even including recently (08/29/2017).  Do you know why?

Thanks, in advance, for any pertinent information and/or solution.

from what i've seen it is file size that reverts to that 'image'. the file is there but not forced on the user (if that is the right word). if a user sees it is only a placeholder the poster can take the image to sites like https://tinyjpg.com/ and then post the compressed image. in most cases the file size is 1/10th or less of the original file size.

Rustyben:  If I understand you, then this would be the burden of the original poster [of any given image(s)], to do this extra work, right?  I am thinking, though, the image(s) must look okay to the poster, when he/she inserts them.  I think it might be annoying to that poster, to let them know that their image does NOT display properly.  Additionally, that would take the topic, itself, into a different direction.

Further, what is amazing, new Forum Participants--include one's very first post--often includes screenshots, pictures, images that display perfectly.  That why this whole matter has been very confusing for me, for years.  I am still trying to learn.

On a different subject, Rustyben:  How do I insert an "@mention"?  I have searched the Forums, including all the Forum "How-To's" and I can't find out anything.  Would you mind explaining--how to and exactly what they do?  Thanks, in advance.  (Still trying to learn).
