my inbox is empty

my inbox is empty

my e-mail inbox has been emptied.   It was not deleted - put in the Trash.   I use Microsoft Mail, but when I signed into comcast.net, it had been emptied there too.  Does anybody know what happened and how I can fix it?

From what you are describing, Outlook is downloading the emails and then deleting them from the server.  That tells me it's set up using the default settings in POP3.  If that is the case you need to either change the settings to retain a copy on the server or disable the account in Outlook.

Do you have the account enabled on more than one device?  If so, is one of them using POP3?  It could be downloading the messages and then deleting them from the server.

I don't receive mail on more than one device.  I was using the Mail program in Windows 10.  When I checked Outlook, which I had not used for months, all the mail was there.  It's possible that Outlook grabbed the mail on its own, but for the time-being I'll stick to Outlook.

Thanks.  I was able to check the box on Outlook that would leave a copy on the server.
