iphone 6 mail issues

iphone 6 mail issues

My new iphone 6s keeps having intermittent connection issues with my comcast email. It works great, and then it loses the connection and sometimes all of my saved mail.  It sometimes changes my host name from mail.comcast.net to imap.comcast.net, and this doesn't work for me.  Even when I eventually get the mail.comcast.net to stick, it keeps changing my server port to either 993 or 995 when it's supposed to be 110/587.  When it's in imap.comcast.net with the 993/995 server ports, it doesnt' work.  Although, currently my phone is saying "mail.comcast.net" and has "server port 995" and appears to be receiving/sending mail alright -- I'm pretty sure that these two settings together aren't suppposed to work, so now I'm REALLY confused.  On my iphone 5S, it was always mail.comcast.net with server ports 110/587, and I didn't have this issue with my iphone 5s, so I'm wondering whether I have a phone issue or if this is a comcast issue with iphone 6???  I've seen other similiar issues in regard to setting up the email on the phone, but I haven't seen others with issue of the phone constantly changing it back and forth and switching the host and/or server.  Help -- I'm so frustrated!!!

Re: iphone 6 mail issues

No it's not a Comcast issue.  I have an iPhone 4s and I'm not having the issue you describe.  Try deleting the account from the phone, and then re-create it, letting it auto-configue the account for you after you enter your sign-in credentials.  It should set up the account using IMAP.  iOS now detects Comcast accounts as IMAP compliant.  If you have the account on the phone using POP delete it.

Hello,

I had the same issue with my iphone 5s awhile ago as you can see from my post. Comcast will always say that it is not a issue with them but why does it happen a lot.

Re: iphone 6 mail issues

It seems to be working (for now) -- It's currently host name mail.comcast.net with server port 110. Earlier today the host name was imap.comcast.net with a server port of 995. I did nothing to switch it. It just pops back and forth seemingly at will. Then every so often it will tell me that the server can't connect and I need to check my settings, but the settings are either as above or a mixture (as in mail.comcast.net with 995 server port -- even when I reboot, it sometimes won't verify any changes that I make and will switch back to something different than I typed in). It seriously makes no sense.
