iPad cannot send Comcast mail with Apple Mail Client

If anyone is still having trouble with sending mail from iPad, check out this support page from Xfinity/Comcast:

http://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/internet/email-client-programs-with-xfinity-email/

I changed my outgoing mail server port to the recommended port (587) and it worked on my iPad 2.  Changing my incoming mail server to the recommended IMAP server did not work, so I left it set to the mail.comcast.net server (see under "POP Access" heading on the support page above), and it worked.

Best of luck.

How do you change the outgoing mail server port?

On an IPhone or iPad, go to Settings from the home screen, then Email, Contacts, Calendars.  Click on your Comcast account and scroll down to Advanced and tap that.  Scroll up or down to find Server Port and tap it.  A number pad will pop up and you can change it there.
