how/where to install imap.comcast.net

how/where to install imap.comcast.net

Using Outlook.com as my default email, I cannot send emails from Word, other people, web sites, etc. I am told that Microsoft Outlook needs to be set to imap.comcast.net.

How/where do I do that?

Thanks.

I am not sure how Outlook.com [formerly hotmail.com] can be used as default email, but since I don't use it for that I can only give you a basic "check out" kind of thing.

After signing in to your Outlook.com in your web browser, click on the gear in the upper right corner.  This is where your Settings Menu is found.    Scroll down and click on Options.  In the left pane under Accounts click on POP and IMAP.  If POP says Yes, click on the No radio button.  And, from there, I'm not sure what you'll have to do since I already have IMAP enabled, but for my hotmail account.  I use Thunderbird for all of my email accounts.

Outlook.com is not a true email client in the sense that Thunderbird, or Outlook, or Windows Live Mail are.  It is a webmail program that has certain client-like abilities.  It may be possible to use it as your "mailto: option, but it will depend on what browser you are using.
