Re: how to set up read receipt on comcast email

Comcast email is webmail, and there is no read receipt function in it.  To do that you need to use a desktop client like Mozilla Thunderbird, Mac Mail (if you have a Mac), Outlook or some other that has that capability.  Even then, compliance is strictly voluntary on the part of the recipient.

Re: how to set up read receipt on comcast email

Hi,

Can the Read Receipt funtionality be added to web-based mail? I belong to two organizations that require the receipt.

Thanks,

Jim

No.  But you can set it up if you enable the account using a desktop client like Outllook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail or some other.  They have the capability of using Read reciepts.

Thank you. I couldn't tell from earlier posts if that was a charateristic of web-based email or just not implemented by provider..

Re: how to set up read receipt on comcast email

It's nothing peculiar to Comcast.  I don't know of any web based email account that has Read reciepts capability.  But most of the better known desktop clients do have it.  Email accounts from ISPs like Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, Bell South, Cox, etc------that's all webmail.  AT&T and Verizon are actually Yahoo email under the hood.  Comcast uses Zimbra.
