homepage getting hijacked

I have a problem similar to one already posted.  I installed the 2015 version of an antivirus software recently, Now everytime I boot up, I have the antivirus' search engine as a home page. I reset the page to Xfinity/comcast every time,  but  the next time I start up, the antivirus  engine is back as my home page. Any solutions?

Re: homepage getting hijacked

In the settings for the A/V program, is there a little check box someplace that says "Make my A/V program the Homepage" or something like that?  If so is it checked by default?

Re: homepage getting hijacked

I rummaged around in the AV program looking for just such a button and came up empty, first thing I looked for.

However,  my caustic-gram to the software company brought forth a reply which included  multiple solutions covering a  range of operating systems.  The first one tried worked  wonderfully.   I have my home page back.

There were several options to get my home page back.  The option I used recommended going into the control panel, selecting add or remove programs  (may also be listed as uninstall or change programs).  The list of programs installed in the device will come up,   You will see your anti-virus program " XYZ 2015"  Directly below that you will see a separate program with a name  such as " XYZ toolbar" or " XYZ search". Click on that program, then click "delete", or "uninstall" depending on your version of the operating system.  I think you have  to do a restart then go back and put in your chosen homepage,  because the first time I powered the machine up after doing the removal,  that XYZ home page was there again, but once I set my default after the restart, is went away and didn't come back.

                                                                                                     good luck everyone..
