emails on more than one device

emails on more than one device

I have a Mac, an Ipad, and 2 cell phones which used to get all the same emails.  Now , they don't appear on all devices.  If an email is deleted off one of the iPhones, it may look like an email is still available on another device, but when you try to open it, it says it wasn't downloaded from the server.  I would like all my email to load on all devices, and have to be deleted separately off each device.

Re: emails on more than one device

If I'm reading you right, you would need to enable the account on each device using POP3, and configure each one to leave a copy of the emails on the server.  Comcast recommends using IMAP for multiple devices, but the POP3 settings are still available here-----------------

Re: emails on more than one device

My computer is set up for port 995 SSL, which is what I think the Xfinity site said to set it for.  I am wondering if I should uncheck remove copy from server after retrieving a message on the same screen.

Re: emails on more than one device

POP3 was never intended for use by more than one device.  It harkens back to the days when most people had only one computer, and storage on the server at their ISP or other mail provider was a lot more limited, and time online was billed by the minutes used.  If you are going to use the account on more than one device, it is highly recommended that you use IMAP, so that everything is synced, and what you do to an email on any one of them is reflected on all the others.  Also, IMAP supports the use of local folders.  POP only works on the Inbox.
