how to delete more than one email at a time

How many are you talking about?  If only a few, just check the small box to the left of the message in the list and then hit Delete in the toolbar.  If they are in sequential order you can check the one at the top, then hold down the Shift key and check the last one.  That will select everything in between.  If you want to clean out an entire folder, right-click on it and you will see the option to delete all messages.
