e-mails removed by threading

E-mail threads.

 

I occassionally BCC myself on important e-mails with attachments.  A couple months ago I realized that when I receive a response on that thread my original e-mail is deleted.  If the person(s) who reply leave off my attachment I have lost my information.  I have escalated this with Comcast with no response.  Threading or 'conversations' is a simple choice on most e-mail systems.  Can anyone tell me how I can change this so it does not automatically delete previous e-mails.
