If I'm understanding your question correctly, just select the emails that you sent to trash, (any that you want to delete permanently) then go towards the top of the page where the trash can is. Click on that and it will give you the option to delete them permanently. I hope that helped.

If you are still in the old email format, from the Inbox page go to Preferences>>>>Email>>>>Email Deletion Schedule.  There you will see the option to set time periods for the default folders including Trash.  In the new format, the default for Trash is 7 days.  you cannot change it.  When they drop off they will be available in the "Recover Deleted Items" feature for about 15 days before they vanish permanently.
