cannot send emails from iMac or iPhone 6

cannot send emails from iMac or iPhone 6

need assistance.  I have an imac and iphone and receive email just fine but cannot send anything.  First it was my iphone but now it is my imac.  I just changed my password.


When going into the preferences, I do a test and i get "smtp offline" message.


Any recommendations?

The details from the connection doctor says "Could not connect to the SMTP server.  Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences.  Also verify the server supports SSL.  If it does not deselect the "Use SSL" checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account preferences."


My reaction:

1)  The connection seems to be fine since i get green lights for email POP and iCloud IMAP.

2)  The settings before were with SSL and i didn't change this.  Should I try deselecting?
