accessing email accounts

I've been attempting to access a non-xfinity email account without success. I have attempted the solutions offered by Queen-Evie and the 'add external email accounts to xfinity connect'...neither work...the step following 'go to preferences and click email' always takes me to my primary email account page...I can find no 'add' or edit there, nor any directions to another page.

I recently upgraded to windows 10, but I have found no indications that windows 10 should restrict my xfinity accounts in any way.

Re: accessing email accounts

You don't give a link to Queen Evie's suggestions, so I don't know what those might have been. I'm also not sure if you can add an external account via a secondary account.  And I have only the primary account to deal with so.....

Sign in to your email account.  From the Inbox page, click on Preferences, then on Email, then Email Accounts, then Add Account.  You should see something that looks like this:

Re: accessing email accounts

Sorry but that does not work. I do appreciate the directions to the preferences box, just the same. I simply get the message 'failed' and when trying to transport the emails get the message that that server is not supported. Perhaps that is the general problem to begin with. It is a ".org" apparently from a server in Texas which I know to be maintained by the administrator (owner of the domain) in Europe.
