Xfinity Email problems

This morning I've been having problems with my email account. I cannot delete emails from the INBOX. I receive a message stating "This message could not be moved to the trash folder because your mailbox is nearly full". I attempted to empty my trash folder of older emails and receive a confirmation that the messages were deleted but they, in fact, return to the trash folder with a line through each message. I also attempted to open a personal folder without success. I get an error message stating "An error occurred inside the server which prevents it from fulfilling the request". When I click on the SPAM folder, I receive the same message. What is going on? Mail Server down?
