Windows 10 Update

I just updated my Dell XPS to windows 10 from 8.1.

Now I cannot connect to the internet.

The system can see the Infinity router but shows limited connectivity. There is a receive and transmit character count.

Onther devices connect fine.

I have tried powerind down the router several times without success.

I have tried updating the device drivers  ( there is no ! next to the wan device on the device manager )

I have tried a clean start with all non microsoft programs disabled.

Is there some magic spell required.

Re: Windows 10 no Internet connection

Are you trying to connect wired or wifi?

Re: Windows 10 Update

Have you tried looking around Dell's website? The Win 8.1 driver should work for Win 10. You might try reinstalling the Win 8.1 driver or deleting it completely and rebooting. Check to make sure Win 10 didn't load a generic driver for your wifi card.

No Internet connection after upgrade to Win 10 with Dell XPS Fixed

After upgrading from windows 8.1 to 10 on my dell I had no internet connectivity.

The answer is that the update reset the driver to default mode. Specifically bandwidth.

Go to control panel / device manager / WiFi card

go to device / properties - Advanced

select bandwidth and change from 20 only to 20/40 auto.

You may be experiencing an issue on the Microsoft side, and Microsoft Support has provided a work-around. See this thread for more details: Windows 10 Upgrade - WiFi Issue.

Re: Windows 10 Update

I had the same problem....upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10.  I could connect, but with "limited" capability.  After several hours on the phone with Comcast, ending with the tech telling me there was nothing he could do, I thought of trying to change out my Gateway modem/router for a newer model.  I disconnected it myself and took the old SMC modem/router to the nearby Comcast store. They gave me a new dual mode Cisco modem/router, which solved the problem .  Hiope this helps.

Re: Windows 10 Update

SMC Gateways are known to be problematic as their firmware has holes the size of the deathstar and results between them are simmilar. Good thing you swapped it out.
