Why is Xfinity all of a sudden asking for password recovery information???

Why is Xfinity all of a sudden asking for password recovery information???

Alll of a sudden I am being asked over and over  for password recovery information. 

 

I'm not giving my phone number and the only e-mail addresses I have are comcast.net addresses which you can't use for password recovery.

 

What is going on here.

 

I've had these e-mails for well over a decade with no problems.

The original intent of the secondary accounts was so that different people in the same household could have their own email account.  That's why you can't use the same phone number for more than one of them.  It's also about security.  Using the same recovery information for more than one account means that if one of them gets compromised, they are all on the block.  You can use another email address instead, but it has to be a non-Comcast account, and one that's not already being used for one of the other secondary accounts.  More and more online account providers are going to the two-factor authentication process.

I refuse to do this.  Full stop.  Will this affect my Comcast  e-mail accounts which have been active for well over a decade without any problems.

 

More and more Comcast is continually leaving a bad taste in my mouth. It never ends.
