Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

I have been using Pegasus as an email client for many years without a problem. I can still receive e-mails, but as of yesterday am unable to send out any. Using SMTP port 465. Tried changing it to 587 and still all I am getting in response to sending is "No trace information available" and message remains in queue. Comcast agent was very nice but could not help me. Sending and receiving messages directly from Comcast website is working with no problem. This she took to mean that the problem is with Pegasus, though I cannot see how.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

It sounds like the agent was correct if the webmail works OK.  I'm assuming you are using IMAP.  If that is the case, try deleting the account from the client, then re-create it from scratch.  See if that helps.

Re: Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

We have been making some changes over the past few weeks, and this week was the final portion of that.  Are you still having the issue?  Can you try to re-import/re-approve the certificates?

Thanks for the reply. I am using POP for receiving and sending.

Right, but are you still having the issue?  Can you go into your settings and see what certificates you have for our systems?  I'm going to see if I can download the client and configure it on my desktop.

Re: Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

*sigh*, I can't make it give useful debugging information.  For the moment, you can use webmail if that's an option, or (and I really don't want to say this) disable the encryption, and use port 587.

Based on my German though, there may not be much we can do:

http://de.comm.software.mailreader.pegasus.narkive.com/1qk4ulaM/ssl-probleme-bad-server-key-agreemen...

It appears to say that Pegasus only supports SSLv3, and our server no longer supports SSLv3.  If this is the case, SSLv3 isn't really that secure, and only really protects against passive snooping.  I'm still trying to get access to the Pegasus web forum (our proxy is blocking it, I'm getting that removed).

I'm going to keep looking and see if I can figure this out, maybe there's a workaround.  I do apologize, this was not our intention.

Re: Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

Further digging reveals this not to be the case.  I'm going to try to get in touch with the authors and see if they can provide some insight about the nondescriptive error message.

Thanks for all your help!

Re: Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

Besides using port 465, check "Via direct SSL connect".  And for online help with Pegasus, try their community forums at http://community.pmail.com/ .

Re: Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

I do have the SSL checked. Seems to work fine after installing the latest version. Thanks.

Re: Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

I'm having the same problem, and tried upgrading to the latest version of Pegasus with no change in my problem.  Did you do an update, or a complete reinstall?

Re: Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

Same problem.  Upgraded to PM4.72 and problem went away.

Re: Unable to send out e-mails with Pegasus

Found out it requires the full reinstall, not the simple update...  However, the full reinstall is pretty simple as well.  Works fine now.
