Signature stopped working-2016

A month or two back, the ability to edit my signatures began to change...wither they were not included in emails...they would not change...or they included gibberish at the front end (a series of assorted characters).  At first, I just deleted gibberrish from the email.  Then, tried to re-enter signatures, in preferences, worried something was attaching to signatures. Then, tried to delete all signatures...renamed...reordered.  Now, am no longer able to add signatures, at all.  When I do enter and name new signatures... the message 'There is a problem saving" flashes across the blue 'signature' banner on the 'preferences' page.  The only way now...is to  cut and paste onto each individual email.  How do I get this feature back?
