Secondary Account User - Won't allow valid email address

I have set up one of my household member as a user so that they can access xfinity features from ther mobile devices.  During the setup, I tried to add their primary email address as an address to their account, so that I could change the preferred address tot he one I know they will access regularly.  Their gmail address happens to begin with a number, and so the form throws an error that the email address is not in a vallid format.  As I work in digital marketing, I am very aware of both the RFC and common practice rules around email format.  There should be no issue with this address.  Will this be resolved?
