POP to IMAP

POP to IMAP

I have had to convert from a POP account to an IMAP account to get Outlook 2003 email to work with Comcast servers. I have just upgraded my internet modem to the new gateway 1 type at comcast's insistence. What gives? Is there a problem at Comcast, are they going to fix POP, or is this my only choice? (If so it is another nail in the Comcast coffin)

Re: POP to IMAP

Don't know why you would need to switch frorm POP to IMAP, but for users with the obsolete Outlook 2003, you need to turn off IPv6 in your network settings on the pc when you start getting IPv6 from Comcast.  For many users, that happens when they upgrade to the new gateway or have their own equipment that passes IPv6 to the home.

Since Outlook 2003 is not supported by Microsoft, the IPv6 issue will not be fixed, only the workaround will do it.

POP is not broken.
