Imap settings. Move messages to local folders and delete from server.

Hi all,

I migrated from POP3 to IMap a few months ago.   I'm using Outlook 2010 on desktop. I'm looking for a way to keep the inbox synchronised but to be able to move items to local folders on the PC and delete them off the server.  Currently all my items synchronise which means all the folder contents are kept on the server.   Any suggestions/solutions?

Thanks kindly,

Figured out one approach.   Created a new local pst data file on the PC and moved all the email folders there.  Now the IMAP account only synchronizes the inbox.  Perfect.

I'm curious------the whole purpose of using IMAP is to keep everything synced across multiple devices that have the account enabled on them.  Why are you trying to do a work-around to defeat that?

Understood.   In my case,  I want to keep my inbox synchronized but I also have a number of local email folders which I don't want on the IMAP server.  Perhaps a corner case use model.  Smiley Happy
