Error message re: user name being already in use when it isn't

Error message re: user name being already in use when it isn't

We have two accounts, one for business and one at home.  We will be moving soon and wanted to leave the user name that was tied to the home account for the new business owners to use at the business which is two doors from our home, and take the user name currently tied to the business account with us as it is my personal email account.  I tried to switch them by renaming the user name on the home account, which I thought would free up the user name that I wanted to transfer down to the business.  However, when I then went into the business account and tried to add the newly released and no longer in use user name from the home, I got an error message stating it was "already in use" and I could not add it.  Now it will not let me add it back to the home account where it originally was either.  That is disasterous because it is our published business email address where we take business reservations and since I cannot now tie it to either the home or business accounts, no one can send email to it and we are losing business.  I need help quickly.  Thanks

When you rename an account like that, the first user ID is suspended for 90 days and then released into the pool of available IDs for any other customer that wants it.  You will now need to call Comcast security and see if they can get you sorted out and reinstate the ID.  I don't know if you can assign your ID to another party like that, but you can ask them----------------------
