Email recovery?

Email recovery?

I access my email via webmail a Comcast app on my phone.  Today, while helping my elderly mother out of the car, I inadvertently deleted all the messages in my email inbox . They are not in my trash bin.  I've tried three chat sessions and two phone calls to Comcast support but no one can help me.  Does anyone know if they can be recovered?  This is, after all, the information era.  Comcast has to have most of them backed up somewhere, right?

Re: Email recovery?

You can't recover anything using the phone.  The mobile version of Xfinity Connect just doesn't have that capability.  HOWEVER, do you have a desktop or laptop computer you can use to sign into your account using a browser?  If so, using the default Full version of Xfinity Connect there is a way to recover emails that you deleted.  Since you are using an iPhone I'm assuming you are using IMAP to access the account in iOS.  When you are signed into your account on your computer------------------------

You have a feature called “Recover Deleted Items”.  It appears only in the default Full version of XC.  It is intended to recover emails that you deleted.  To see it, right-click on the Trash folder.  You will see a small pop-up menu, and the last choice at the bottom is “Recover Deleted Items”.  Click on it and it will open a window showing emails that you deleted.  It is supposed to go back 15 days, but may go back farther than that.  From that window you can restore emails to any folder you have.  Select the ones you want and then click on the little folder icon at the top of that window.  If the emails went missing for any other reason, the feature supposedly won’t show them.  E.G:  if your deletion schedules deleted them or you have a malware infection of some kind.  Also, it usually takes 24-48 hours for an email to show up in this feature.

My thinking is that once you have done the recovery on the computer, due to the IMAP protocol the emails should reappear on the phone.  If none of this works for you, then try calling Comcast security and see if they can recover them for you-------------------
