Email messages sent from Comcast server to my Outlook 2016 client repeatedly --

I use Outlook 2016 and for the past 3 or 4 weeks email messages are sent from the Comcast server to my Outlook client over and over. It's as if they are not being marked as having been sent until 24 hours go by. The only way I can stop this behavior is to log in to Comcast email through my browser and delete everything that has arrived in the past 24 hours -- not something I want or should have to do.
