Email filtering

What is email filtering? Does it mean that you can 'block' certain sites from emailing you?  If so, how do I go about it?

Re: Email filtering

Pretty much any webmail program like Comcast, Yahoo, AOL etc, as well as an email client like Outlook, Thunderbird or Mac mail will have provision for setting up filters to re-direct your incoming emails to some other folder other than the Inbox.  In Comcast email, from the Inbox page go to Preferences>>>>>Email>>>>>>Email Filters, and take a look at that.  In a sense you can "block" someone by simply setting up a filter that discards their messages before you ever see them if that is what you want.
