Downloading E-Mail To Local Machine

How do I download e-mail from Comcast webmail to my local machine? I have numerous folders in the webmail and client programs like Outlook will not down those intact.

Re: Downloading E-Mail To Local Machine

If you re-create the account in Outlook using IMAP instead of POP3 all your local folders will be in both places--------Outlook and the Comcast mail server.  If you need the settings they are here------------

Re: Downloading E-Mail To Local Machine

Apparently there is NO way to download e-mail to the local machine without using a third party application which I DO NOT WANT TO DO! I have done that in the past and the results were not satisfactory. NOT ALL ATTRIBUTES OF ALL E-MAILS DOWNLOAD TO THOSE APPLICATIONS CORRECTLY! Failure to have a function within webmail to do this task appears to simply be a way for the ISP to sell the customer more and more web storage space. It's no wonder Comcast is rated as the most didliked and greedy corporation.

Re: Downloading E-Mail To Local Machine

It has nothing to do with Comcast per se, and everything to do with how web-based email programs work.  Yahoo, AOL, Gmail, Outlook.com------all are web based email just the same as Comcast.  If you want to store emails on your computer or an external drive you have to use a client program like Outlook, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, Windows Live Mail or some other.  There is no easy way to store webmail onto a computer without using such a client.
