Copying email to sent folder is slow

Copying email to sent folder is slow

When I compose a message and send it, it takes about 45 seconds for the message to be saved in the Sent messages folder. I am pretty certain this is a comcast issue because if I change only the location where Thunderbird saves the sent copy to a local folder, the save is almost instantaneous. When I do the same with a Gmail account, the save takes less than 1 second. Every once in a while, the save is less than 1 second, but most of the time it is long.

I want to know how to solve this.

My SMTP Server settings are:
Server name: smtp.comcast.net
Port: 587
User Name: <email address>
Authentication: Normal Password
Security: SSL/TLS

My IMAP Mail settings are:
Server name: imap.comcast.net
Port: 993
User Name: <email address>
Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication: Normal Password

Email Client: Thunderbird 38.2.0

OS: Windows 7 Pro x64

Thanks for any help you can provide!
