Comcast rejects password for email and comcast login (MAC)

For several months after years of service I can no longer connect to my comcast email via Apple email (MAC).  A box opens with this message  "The comcast.net IMAP server “imap.comcast.net” rejected the password for user “xxxxxx".  So I go to Comcast online and it shows I am logged in, but I am prompted for my username and password anyway.  This fails so I have to create a new password.  OK...so then I go back and use this password to respond to the issue above with my email.  All works fine for a few hours or a day or two....and then I am right back to the same thing again.  My password is rejected when using my email or trying into log into Comcast.  I have deleted my comcast email from apple mail and then reinstalled it several times with no luck.  Funny, my wife's comcast email is in my profile and she always has access to it and none of the problems I experience.  I have seen this issue on this and other forums but have yet to find a solution to it.  Could it be as simple as having Comcast delete my email and reinstall it with the same address and username?  This and continually being disconnected on weekends and holidays has me more than anxious to quit Comcast service.  Oh...I have been on the phone with Comcast with no positive results.  A proven solutuion only, please.

Make sure that your password contains both upper and lower letters, some numbers, and a character or two.

The more complex, the better.  For example, use a phrase that only you you know and mix the numbers/characters in the phrase.  I would change the Comcast password, then immediately change your both word in Apple to match it.  Close your browser, re-open and see if you have success.

You might also want to try a different browser to make sure the problem is not with the browser currently being used.  If you are using Internet Explorer, make sure that Compatibility View is ON.  Go to Tools>Internet Options> Compatibility view to see if it is on.

Try a different browser too- EG:  Firefox, Chrome,etc. for Xfinity.

You can also post the settings you are using for Mail for us to double check.

Do you use XfinityConnect? The Full or Lite version?
Do you use an email client? Which one? (Eg; Windows Live mail, Outlook, a smartphone etc.)
Which browser/version do you use? And- have you cleared your browser cache?
Which operating system? XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X
Details of the problem you are having.

Two questions:

 

Are you using the Appl Mail client that comes on the Mac?

 

Does the email function OK if you you use only the webmail UI through your browser?

Yes...I am using the Apple Mail that came with the MAC...not sure what the webmail UI is.  Funny...my wife's comcast mail via Apple mail works just fine and is in the same profile.  But...it isn't just the email...I have the same issue with Comcast logging me out and then having to create a new password constantly whether to access my account or email.  I called Comcast sometime ago and they just said it was an Apple problem.  Thank you for responding!

I was referring to the webmail User Interface.  In other words, if you bypass Mail and just sign into the account using your browser and no client, does the email work?
