Autofill of email addresses

How do I turn off the autofill of email addresses. I do not use it and I don't want it.

Re: Autofill of email addresses

Do you mean the list that shows up when you start typing in the To: line in a new email?  If so, there is no way to turn it off I know of other than to empty out your address book.  Then there's nothing for it to fill with.  But even if you do that, it will sometimes remember an address you have used in the past even after it's no longer in the address book.  Also, when you have a list in front of you, some of the addresses may have "Forget" to the right.  I haven't used it but I'm guessing that would prevent that address from showing up again.

Re: Autofill of email addresses

Thanks for the reply. I can't believe the stuff forced on us because someone else thinks it's good for us.

Re: Autofill of email addresses

The address book is actually provided by a company called Plaxo, and the underlying email software is from Zimbra.  It's actually a very handy feature for most people and it has another benefit for at least some------------we had someone come into the forum not long ago asking if it was possible to retrieve an email address that he no longer had.  By beginning to type the person's name in the To: line he was able to retrieve it because that auto-fill thingy still remembered it.

I'll also say it's a nice feature when you have more than one entry in your address book for the same contact with different email addresses.  Saves a lot of typing.

Just sayin

Re: Autofill of email addresses

I appreciate your replies. I am a two finger typist and have to look at the keyboard to type anything. I am sure I am not alone. It would not be bad if it would allow me to continue to type and it entered correctly but it does not and I spend more time correcting and retyping addresses. As I said in the previous post another case of someone else knowing what is best for me.
