Is there a way to disconnect Xfinity voicemail completely-so that if they do not get my machine a caller will not be sent to it.

Yes, it can be remnoved but you must call into Comcast @ 1-800-266-2278 or 1-800-934-6489 and speak with a CSR to have the feature REMOVED from your account....once that is done, the VM will be disabled.
