voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

After I listen to and delete voicemail messages, the indicator light on my phone stays on, so I never know when there are new messages. I've tried disconnecting the phone jack from the modem to reset it, but that doesn't work either.

Re: voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

If leaving yourself a voicemail and then listening to it doesn't clear it, then the only way is to contact Comcast support as they will have access to the switch to clear it out.

If you don't get anywhere by calling Comcast, then please post back and it will be escalated to the Corp team and they will get cleared.

Re: voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

Do you still have the studdertone when you pick up the phone?

You might need to leave youself another voicemail and then delete it to clear the MWI indicator and confirm that there are no messages waiting.

I also have one phone that keeps flasing MWI at times after retriving the messages, and picking up the handset for a minute clears that one phone from flashing.

You can also try to reset your eMTA phone modem / adapter by pressing the small indented button on the back of the eMTA to reset the unit.

No stuttertone. There doesn't seem to be reset button on my modem.

Re: voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

Most with CDV have a Arris TM 502G, 602G or 702G eMTA

The reset button is on the panel with the all the wires connecting, on this example for a TM702G it is "C"

Re: voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

My problem is just the opposite.  My voicemail indicator light doesn't go on.   I have to dial *99 to see if there are any messages.

Any clue how to fix this?

Re: voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

The phone has to compatible with the FSK protocol.  Since there are two kinds of message waiting indicators, you should find a phone that supports FSK.

Re: voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

We put our phone on Seasonal mode every winter and when we return in the spring, put it back on full service.  It has always indicated voice messages in the past.  This year no light comes on to let us know we have a voice message.

Re: voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

There's a reset button, but that didn't work. Also tried unplugging phone from it and that also didn't work. I don't plan to buy new phones anytime soon and can't understand why I didn't have this problem with my last cable company's phone service.

Re: voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

Hi:  I'm still have the problem.  Yesterday, I missed a very, very important call.

I've unplugged the phone from the electrical connection, and from the connection to Comast.  Didn't help.   Can't find a reset button on the phone.  I even called the manufacturer of the telelphone and they said it is up to Comast.

I don't know what else to do so  I'm going to call Comcast again.  Maybe somebody different can figure out what is wrong.

If I find a solution, I will let you know.

It is the same phone we have been using for 3 - 4 years and the voice mail indicator always worked before.

It's not a great idea to hijack a thread, especially when your problem is the exact opposite of the original problem. It makes it confusing to try to follow the two intermixed discussions. You should start a new thread instead.

Do you get a stutter tone when you pick up the phone?

Re: voicemail indicator light doesn't go off

Yes, even when there are no messages.

(Thanks for telling Lucat what I was thinking, their statements didn't offer any solutions to the issue I am having.)

Left out an important word in the last message.    It should have read, "I realize now that was NOT the right way to go"

Lulucat246,

I suggest you contact Comcast Customer Care if you haven't. Ask the agent to check if your message waiting indicator is enabled. If the agent cannot answer it, he or she should be able escalate it to the next level of support.
