Hope I'm posting this inquiry in the right forum.

I would like to use my own telephony cable modem to avoid ongoing rental costs.

I found a DOCSIS 3.0 capable telephony cable modem by Ubee, model DVW3201.

It is not on the Comcast compatibility list (but it is currently compatible with BrightHouse & Time Warner).

I think it is similar to the Comcast compatible Ubee DVW3203, but additionally has built-in Wi-Fi (nice).

I searched the forums for "DVW3201", there were no search results returned.

Since it is a DOCSIS 3.0 capable telephony modem, I think it should work fine in a Comcast environment.

It meets the latest tech standards, & I can provide Comcast the MAC address.

Tech support told me in poor english that I can refer to the website-published list for compatibility (not helpful).

I can't try it today. Presently have the modem in FL, & will be home in IL in a couple weeks (will try it then for sure).

Can anyone knowledgeable about telephony cable modem compatibility with Comcast respond here?

I'd like to know if it might be a complete waste of time to pack it in luggage for the trip home.

I'd expect it to work fine. Constructive feedback appreciated, thanks, Den

Comcast will only allow devices listed as approved.

The Comcast approved Device List is here:  http://mydeviceinfo.comcast.net/

Make sure you click on the RETAIL box when searching the list.
