our phone service has not been working all day. the phone is showing "No line". There is no dial tone and all calls coming in go directly to voice mail

As a first step, reset the modem/gateway following these instructions:  http://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/internet/power-cycling-your-modem/

If this fails to restore service, call into Comcast @ 1-800-266-2278 or 1-800-934-6489 and speak with a CSR about your non-working service.
