telephone crackles

telephone crackles

We have three ATT phones which have worked well up until a few weeks ago.  There is scratchy crackling on incoming voice.  Outgoing is not affected.  We put new batteries in, but the crackling persistts.   Recently, Xfinity did some upgrades in our area.  Is it possible that our 6-year-old phones are incompatible?

Phones would not be the cause of the "crackling"....   As a first step, try rebooting the modem/gateway by pulling power from the outlet, let sit 10 seconds then plug back in.  3-5 minutes later, the device will be ready (all lights are solidly lit ).  Try and test the phones again.  If you still hear "crackling", call into Comcast @ 1-800-266-2278 and tell theCSR about the issue...ALSO include the fact that Comcast had outside work being done in your neighborhood  !

Re: telephone crackles

I noticed a lot of t3 and t4 timeouts to your modem. There seem to be some clear connection issues, if you have not try adjusting the connections to ensure they are tight. If it continues, we might need to have a tech out for you. -FC
