single ring and dial tone

single ring and dial tone

This happens a few times a day/evening.The phone rings, only once, and a caller ID will show the number (usually different than the previous time) ONLY during the ring, and there is just a dial tone when it's answered, no matter how quickly.

Does XFINITY/COMCAST/VOICE have some type of SPAM/ROBOCALL detector that is causing this? There also is no remaining record of the incoming call.

Are you running the NoMoRobo service to block unwanted calls?  This is exaclty how that works.

Re: single ring and dial tone

I don't BELIEVE I'm running NoMoRoBo, but is there a way I can check that?

Yes.  Log into your account online and goto:  https://pf.connect.comcast.net/OptimusPref/prefs/voice

Look in the section titled Advanced Call Forwarding.  If the number (202) 813-1600 is listed there, that is the number for the NoMoRobo service.

Re: single ring and dial tone

Thank you, GEEK46!  I checked, and that number (202) 813-1600 WAS there, so I got rid of it, and now we'll see what happens...........
