"call cannot be completed at this time"

"call cannot be completed at this time"

We live in area code 802 and can get to our voice mail and dial an 800 number, but when we try to reach another area code, we get the message "Your call cannot be completed at this time"

This has been going on for almost a day.

Comcast has skedded a tech to come to our house tomorrow -- Comcast rep on the phone they are getting "yellow" signals -- but since I can reach some outside lines, and also receive incoming calls, I don't see how it can be an issue just with our home.

Thanks

Re: "call cannot be completed at this time&am

First time it's a recurring problem.

We are dialing, for instance, 1-(401) xxx-xxxx or 1-603-xxx-xxxx.

We do have a VTech phone, but have always had them with Comcast service. And like I said, I could get through to my Vt cell phone, which has an 802 area code as well.

Thanks, Keisha.

The best test would be go pickup a cheap $6 corded phone at Wal-Mart and plug it in the L1/L2 jack on the eMTA telephony modem and give it a good test.  This would be for testing purposes and will determine if it's on Comcast's side, or the subscriber side. The DTMF generator on your existing phone might be failing.

Re: "call cannot be completed at this time&qu

This happens to me sometimes but I usually try back and it works just fine.  Very strange!  I too have to also dial a "1" before I dial a local number.  I know that Comcast will charge you $5 to change your number as a one time fee which should have been local in the first place.
