outgoing voice not being heard

outgoing voice not being heard

For the last 7-10 days our phone will receive calls in and I can hear them speaking, but they cannot hear my voice as I reply.  They hang up.  Lour incoming box by wall outlet has all lights on as indicating proper function.  We've made sure it is not just both our phones going on the fritz simultaneously by testing with a phone from my brother's house that works perfectly well.  Sure hope there is a reason for this and a resulting credit to our account for this lack of function.  Please help.
