no phone service

no phone service

I have not had phone service since yesterday, 9/8/11.  There is no dial tone and when it rings, it rings once, and with no dial tone, there is no one there.  Do I call my local comcast company or is this something you can get fixed?

First to troubleshoot your CDV issue,  please press the indented reset button on the back panel of the eMTA telephony modem, you will need a toothpick or some poker to access the recessed button.

 

Please unplug the telephone cord on the eMTA that feeds  the jacks in  the house, and plug in a known good wired phone and give it a good test.

 

We have to determine if it's an issue with your inside telephone wiring, the jacks, or one of the phones. 

 

If the CDV works with a phone directly connected to the eMTA, then it would be a wiring or equipment issue on the inside phone wiring. 

 

If the service still doesn't work, then please contact Comcast support, and they can do a health check on your eMTA and determine the next step to take.

There are steps to troubleshoot "no dial tone", if you still have a problem, you can use the live chat on the same page to talk to an agent.

 

(The troubleshooting is the same as JayinAlg posted above).

It worked until this morning.  The phone became crackly again, and now has no dial tone again.
