don't have voicemail but message wait indicator ac

I do not have voicemail service on my xfinity line. However, the message wait indicator / stutter dial tone has been active ever since the line was installed last week. I tried to reset the message wait indicator online by clicking the button under "voice preferences." This returns an error, presumably because it knows i don't have voicemail service. can the message wait indicator be reset manually?

Hi tdo and AMP60004, I have refreshed your Message Waiting Indicator, please let me know if it is still on.

tdo, any fix yet? We had install on 7/1 and are experiecing the exact same thing. I had service out and they couldn't fix it. They figured it must be an issue with my previous phone provider. I don't think it is as I had voice mail shut off AND I called them(UVERSE, nice people but spotty internet), also, it started after their install. Anyway, I'll keep my eye on this thread to see if a fix is posted. Good Luck

Unfortunately no. I haven't heard anything from Comcast on this. Smiley Sad

Phill, thank you the flashing light has stopped but I still have the stutter dial tone that indicates a msg and when I do *99 it states I have no msgs. I used my cell to leave a bunch of msgs and tried deleting those out but I still have the stutter dial tone. I have a panasonic cordless and I reviewed my manual to make sure the phones msg system and vm were turned off.

Phill, THANK YOU. The line is fixed. No more stutter tone, no more light flashing. I had resigned myself to the idea that it would be a minor inconvenience I'd have to live with. Comcast sent a svc tech here and he couldn't figure it out so maybe you can share your know-how with the svc guys.
