do I have to return EOL equipment

Hello,

When going to the service center to get a new combination telephony, internet and wi-fi modem/router (one piece) equipment -- must I bring back by EOL arris 500 series voice mdm and thompson EOL internet mdm (DCM 425) or can I just dipsose of myself?

Comcast has been known to tell customers they don't need to return EOL equipment, and has then billed them for not returning it. I would not take the chance. If you do return the gear, be sure to get a receipt for it and keep that receipt forever.
