If I want to get comcast phone service will they allow me to keep my current number from my current provider?

In most case, it is not a problem to port your existing landline phone number to Comcast Digital Voice.  Once in a while there ha been user reporting issues porting from other VOIP providers, or sometimes cell phone providers to CDV.

 

If you want to add CDV and port your number, do not contact your old phone provider.  Comcast will arrange the move of your phone number and installation of CDV.  After the install, your old phone service is normally terminated once the phone number is moved.  It doen't hurt to double check with your old provicer a week or so after your CDV is successfully installed, that the old account is terminated.

An exception I think is that business numbers can't be ported.
