Which "Upgraded" Modem is Comcast supplying ?

Hi All.

I have my own cable model... Motorola SB6120.

I recvd the letter from Comcast stating needed to upgrade my modem, but the one I have is already a DOCSIS 3.0.

Which model modem is Comcast sending out to customer now in order to achieve the "Upgrade" ?

Jay on the forum said he believes I only need to get a new eMTA and NOT a new cable modem.

But it raised the question of whether or not my model of modem is the best DOCSIS 3.0 around.  Does it have fewer "channels" that a newer Motorola modems ?

Thanks.

You only need an eMTA if you have phone service. If you have an old eMTA you are using for phone only and a seperate modem for internet such as the  Motorola SB6120 you don't need to do anything at all.

corgi11,

Yes... I am only using the eMTA for the phone and the Moto 6120 for the internet.

So it seems I do not need to do anything at all.

Thanks !
