Voip Phones on Digital Voice.

Frequent Visitor

Voip Phones on Digital Voice.

I have just added Digital voice to my Comcast Package. I have set up a three phone analog "POTS" in my house with existing wiring and it works fine. My question is I have two outbuildings a shop and art studio that are wired for network but not for analog phone. I could split the pairs out of the cable, but that is a poor solution. Is Digital Voice able to be configured to support Voip phones? This would be my simplest solution,

Thanks

Re: Voip Phones on Digital Voice.

From my understanding this is not something that we are able to do for residential, but can be done for business services. Can you provide a few extra  details of what you are trying to do? Do you want to receive calls from your business to your home phone or call as well from the home as it was the business? -FC

Re: Voip Phones on Digital Voice.

All I am trying to do is have extension phones in my two outbuildings. I could get an analog gateway amd Voip phones and connect to the Modem/Gateway but I was just curious if I could skip the Digital to analog to digital conversion.

Re: Voip Phones on Digital Voice.

I see, from what you want to do the best solution would be to either run a psychical line or use a wireless device with good enough signal to reach these other areas. In case you want to run the physical lines we could have a tech go out to install phone jacks on these locations but usually it will come at a cost. Our service is voip, but it does function like traditional pots and unfortunately the voip phones would not work. -FC

Re: Voip Phones on Digital Voice.

I pretty much decided my solution was to set up Voip phones and a FXO gateway on the local network and connect it to the PTSN on the Xfinity gateway/modem. It's digital to analog to digital but if it works and the voice clarity is there I don't care.

Thanks
