Voicemails on Smartzone instead of answering machine

I am having an issue where some ppl are calling and they go into Comcast Digital Voicemail. 

 

My set up is for 8 rings before the caller goes to CDV, so that my answering machine will pick up instead. 

 

Yet, I will see an email telling me a have a voicemail on CDV to look at, and the phone never rings and the answering machine is on. 

 

What could be causing this ?

If your talking on the phone when the new call comes in, it will go to voice mail automatically even if you do not have call waiting.

 

You might need to disable voice mail totally, or do what most do and stop using the answering machine and only use voice mail.

 

To disable your voice mail, you will need to call into Comcast support.
